I’m so excited to be part of this year’s Smart Design Mart. The who’s who of Montreal designers and vintage collectors are participating. It’ll be the best thing since Pouces Pop!
My vintage collection has swollen to an unprecedented size, so there’s lots of new stuff to look forward to that isn’t on my Etsy page. After sorting out some of the madness, I realized my winter-outerwear selection has gotten insane. On that note, I believe that one cannot have too many coats in our climate.
Here’s a tasty taste of what’s in store:

This weekend started off with seeing a play adaptation of the novel, Don Quixote. I was so excited and even got all dolled up for it. I expected theatric greatness, for anyone so ambitious to turn something like Don Quixote into a play must be a seriously artistically confidant person. It ended up being so brutal that we actually had to walk out. Not being a theater expert, I’m still not quite sure if this play was just following traditional stage cannon or if it really was truly bad. The actors were overly goofy and the writing was so superficial that all the integrity the book has was removed. Or, maybe I’m just not a fan of theater?
On a more incredible note, I saw Grinderman live at metropolis! Nick Cave performed like a mad man and meant it. Although his natural knack for being an amazing stage man was unusual and great to watch, this wasn’t the most remarkable thing about this show. The members of the band are nearly seniors and they were on fire the entire time. This wasn’t just a musical act, it was a freak show! I loved it and haven’t stopped thinking about it since.
I met a lovely French expat on the street today whilst scouting for interesting street style. It turns out she’s the maker of Et Ismérie Créa, a really adorable jewelry line that she designs and makes herself. She’s new here in Montreal and I can’t wait to see more of her in the craft and design scene! Check out her Etsy page for yourself!
Here’s the lovely Églantine, maker of beautiful hats. Her lovely style caught my eye today on the street and I just had to take her photo. She is wearing one of her hat creations and will be selling them at the Cegep Du Vieux Montreal on the second floor close to the cafeteria this upcoming Thursday!
There are few things I hate more than being sick. Aside from pumpin’ shocking amounts of vit C, I’ve been eating things I’m not always brave enough to consume.
For example, cyan pepper kale soup. It sounds good, but it’s no walk in the park. For my fellow sickies, eat this and it will do good things. Your nose will run, your mouth will burn and you will sweat, but whatever you do DON’T STOP!
1.5 Liters water
2 tbsps miso paste
3 tbsps cyan pepper (or more if you can take it)
2 cloves of garlic
A lot of kale
package of tofu (i used puffy tofu, it’s the best)
chives to taste
Throw everything in and simmer until kale is just barely cooked.
I don’t get sick often but when I do, it’s srs business. I felt it creeping up on me, so I started the motions for attack. I’ve got some rituals that I swear by, some freaky and some more conventional.
This is a portrait of the very virus that is cramping my style as he irritates my bronchial region. Death to him!
I consume an insane amount of vit C, especially if that pesky germ is doing its thang. After learning about Linus Pauling, I freaked out and haven’t eased off from taking it since. I eat those delicious chewy tablets mostly, but pineapple sure is a tasty mistress. I also find that yoga (which I’ve been trying to do more of) helps win the battle. Whether it’s placebo or not, I always feel a little better. That dog is supposed to illustrate downward dog, by the way.I stay warm. Real warm.
Here’s Sarah: friend, seamstress, definition of kewel and blogger extrodinaire! We did some post-yoga strollin on a lovely autumn day. After realizing how her lovely attire matched with our surroundings, I couldn’t help myself but to take a photo.
